Nigeria | The High Courts permits the release of Sheikh Zakzaky to receive treatment in India

After demonstrations that lasted more than a month in Kaduna State of Nigeria denouncing the illegal detention of Sheikh Zakzaky for more than a year, the Supreme Court sentenced to release the leader of the Islamic Movement to receive treatment along with his wife in India.

The court also mentioned that the Government Attorney failed in giving overwhelming evidence to remedy the Sheikh's health conditions in the country, and that is after the deterioration of his health conditions where he lost sight in one eye and the worsening of the chronic medical conditions he suffers from.

The Attorney insisted that the Sheikh receives treatment from foreign doctors so that he'll have the strength to stand in court and defend himself.

Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife suffer from medical conditions that need intensive care and immediate and urgent treatment as well as undertaking further investigations since these chronic medical conditions need more assessment and treatment.

It's stated that the Nigerian Court issued a judgement to release Sheikh Zakzaky in 2016 but the government has refrained from the implementation of this provision for unknown reasons.

The Nigerian army had launched an attack on the supporters of Sheikh Zakzaky in Zaria in 2016, which led to the falling of approximately 1000 martyr with a number of Sheikh Zakzay's family members. And despite the issuance of the provision to release him, the Nigerian authorities are still detaining him illegaly.
