Head of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, said that he will return to Nigeria to travel to another country like Malaysia or Indonesia or Turkey, and that due to the treatment he's receiving at the hospital similar to the detention room in Nigeria.
In a voice recording his media office released, Sheikh Zakzaky said that "before our travel to India, the US embassy in India pressured Mandata hospital to prevent it from receiving us, yet later on we've been informed that the issue has been resolved so we've left Nigeria to India."
He added that "we've reached the hospital via ambulances so the crowd waiting at the airport wouldn't see us; there was also another crowd waiting for us at the hospital... We've reached the hospital which was as the detention center I was at in Nigeria. We've seen security and diplomats from the Nigerian Embassy."
He stated in the voice recording that "they've brought heavily-armed police officers, we've understood that it's just another detention room, and we've known that our doctors we're there anymore, and all what they gave us was what they've suggested. We've told them that we came here based on trust, and we won't deal with any strange doctor."
Sheikh Zakzaky mentioned that he has been in detention for 13 years "and I've never seen this much security in my life. We can't move from one room to another, and I don't think we'll move out of this detention due to medical treatment."
The Head of the Nigerian Islamic Movement decided, at the end of the recording, that he'll go back to Nigeria so "we'd travel to another country like Malaysia or Indonesia or Turkey."
Zakzaky's media office mentioned earlier that "India isn't a safe place for us, and there are other countries like Malaysia or Indonesia or Turkey that have offered to receive us and we can choose among them."
The office warned that there are indications that there are preparations of an "assassination" attempt on the life of the Sheikh by Nigerian intelligence and collaborators in India.
It added "their transfer to the designated hospital, onto the hands of the medical doctors they have chosen was not successful."
After demonstrations that lasted more than a month in Kaduna State of Nigeria denouncing the illegal detention of Sheikh Zakzaky for more than a year, the Supreme Court sentenced to release the leader of the Islamic Movement to receive treatment along with his wife in India.
Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife suffer from medical conditions that need intensive care and immediate and urgent treatment as well as undertaking further investigations since these chronic medical conditions need more assessment and treatment.
It's stated that the Nigerian Court issued a judgement to release Sheikh Zakzaky in 2016 but the government has refrained from the implementation of this provision for unknown reasons.
The Nigerian army had launched an attack on the supporters of Sheikh Zakzaky in Zaria in 2016, which led to the falling of approximately 1000 martyr with a number of Sheikh Zakzay's family members. And despite the issuance of the provision to release him, the Nigerian authorities are still detaining him illegaly.
