Iraq | Salih Affirms Keenness to Develop Friendship Relations with the European Union


Iraq's President Barham Salih affirmed keenness to develop friendship relations with the European Union.

A presidential statement said that "the President met the Ambassadors of a number of European countries in Iraq and during the meeting, they discussed relations with European countries and ways to enhance them in all fields, and emphasized the importance of preserving the sovereignty of Iraq and protecting its security and its stability, as well as a review of the latest political developments in Iraq and the region."

Salih affirmed the keenness to develop friendship relations with the European Union in a way that contributes to strengthening peace efforts in the region and the world, praising the Union's role in the war against terrorism.

The President pointed out that Iraq is looking with great interest to develop economic cooperation and partnership with European countries to serve the common interests, stressing the need for coordination and joint action to face the repercussions of the Corona pandemic and its effects on economic conditions.

For their part, the Ambassadors renewed their support for the sovereignty and stability of Iraq, commitment to efforts to combat terrorism, and the development of cooperation to confront the Corona epidemic in a manner that guarantees the safety of peoples.
