Lebanon’s politicians must form a government quickly to help the country weather the economic crisis and access international support, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said during a visit to Beirut on Wednesday.
"Egypt is pursuing efforts to engage all parties to weather the crisis," Shoukry said at the Baabda Palace after a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
Shoukry voiced concerns over the worsening crisis after a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
"The necessary decisions to overcome the crisis must be taken urgently. Egypt’s interest stems from its close relationship with Lebanon, whose stability is vital to the stability of the region," he said.
The foreign minister will meet a number of politicians, including Mr Hariri – whom France has backed to form a Cabinet of experts committed to the implementation of structural reforms in exchange for international financial support.
