Switzerland | ADHRB Warns of the Deteriorating Human Rights Situation Situation in Bahrain

Activist from the Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB), Hussein Abdullah, confirmed that the situation in Bahrain is getting worse as the use of violence increases and the number of prisoners of conscience rises.

In a panel discussion on Wednesday on the role of the United Nations and international mechanisms to end systematic torture in Bahrain on the sidelines of the 40th session of the Human Rights Council at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Abdullah said that the estimated number of prisoners of conscience in Bahrain is nearly 4,000.

He further noted that the opposition has announced that the estimated number of prisoners of conscience in Bahrain is more than 5,000, including rights activist Nabeel Rajab, who is serving a five-year prison sentence for a tweet criticizing the war on Yemen.
