Iraq | Salih, Iraqi Governers Discusss Preventive Measures to Halt Coronavirus Spread

Iraq's President met heads of Iraqi Governorates today at the Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad and stressed that all efforts must be made in order to ensure delivering better services for all Iraqis as well as raising their quality of life.

The President stated that the local governments have doubled responsibility to provide support and assistance for citizens to deal with the situation going through the country.

This could be done by adhering to the health regulations and directives to combat COVID-19 in a manner that keeps the health and safety of Iraqi people, Salih underlined.

He highlighted that the immense challenges being faced by Iraq on more than one level require further cooperation between security and health authorities and citizens, working together to overcome the current crisis.

Salih affirmed the local government's role in raising awareness, deepening the ways of synergy, solidarity and standing together with all Iraqis communities so as to bring about peace and stability to all cities.

The Governors, in their turn, explained in detail the reality of the situation of their governorates in addition to the level of services provided to citizens and reviewed plans and actions taken to address coronavirus plague. Moreover, they commended President Salih's efforts to closely follow the provinces' affairs.
