Tunisia | Massive Demonstration of Labour Union Marking the 8th Uprising Anniversary

Hundreds of trade unionists and workers flocked to Mohamed Ali Square in Tunis to participate in a demonstration organized by the Tunisian General Labour Union in commemoration of the eighth anniversary of the Tunisian uprising.

During the demonstration, participants raised the Tunisian flags and the Tunisian General Union logo.

They called for social and professional demands, including raising the minimum wage.

For his part, Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union Noureddine Taboubi stressed that the organization is concerned with the upcoming presidential and legislative elections.

Taboubi said that the economic and social policies adopted by governments since 2011 is following the same development path that has caused Tunisians poverty.

He also called on parties to focus on Tunisian workers' demands rather than fighting over positions.
